OMG, you guys—I just discovered something AMAZING! The first-ever Creators in Dance Summit just happened in NYC, and I'm absolutely buzzing about it! So here's the thing that really hit me: choreographers are constantly surrounded by dancers, collaborators, and audiences, yet so many of them feel isolated behind the scenes. Troy Schumacher nails it when he says, "We work in the most social of art forms, yet many of us are isolated."
This summit sounds like the gathering the dance community desperately needed! Finally, a space where dancemakers can actually come together, share their creative struggles, celebrate their wins, and support each other through the unique challenges of choreography. I love this so much because it acknowledges that while dance is inherently collaborative, the people creating it often work in silos. This is exactly the kind of community-building we need in our art form. Can't wait to hear more about what was discussed and how this movement evolves!
